Many people often wonder why babies would have a need to go to the chiropractor. Adjusting the spine goes way beyond neck or back pain. Chiropractic care addresses the function of the nervous system, which is our brain and spinal cord, and all of the nerves that come off of it. These nerves communicate to the brain, and from the brain back to the body. When this system is unbalanced due to stresses put upon it, we may begin to experience symptoms signaling that there is an interference in the nervous system.
For newborns and infants, this can happen as early on as developing fetus, or during the birth process. As beautiful as the birthing process is, it is stressful for baby to make its way into the world. These intial stresses that go uncecked may interfere with their nervous system development. The first year of life is the most significant brain growth your baby will experience for the entire rest of life, making this stage so important for maintaining nervous system health.
Chiropractic care for your newborn or infant is done in the comfort of your home with a home visit. Initial visit includes taking a history or your baby's health and birth story, an evaluation of primitive reflexes, and assessment of cranial and spinal motion. A gentle adjustment will also be part of your first visit, allowing for ease in the nervous system. Recommendations for your child's chiropractic care will also be given at the time of initial visit.
Nervous system imbalance may appear in your newborn or infant in the following ways:
> digestive issues such as constipation or reflux
> difficulty nursing or nursing on one side
> poor or inadequate sleep
> fussiness, colic, or irritability
> difficulty achieving milestones
> sensory or motor disturbances
> chronic illness/ear infections
> eczema or allergies
> head tilt, torticollis, plagiocephaly
Initial Visit: $150
Follow-Up Visits: $95
